Maryland District Parks & Nature

Assateague Island National Seashore

The Maryland district offers a mix of ocean shore and bayside landscapes. The national seashore and adjoining state park have separate facilities and arrangements, so choose the destination that matches your outing.

Before You Go Use the Maryland entrance and check NPS alerts, tides and weather. Stay at least 40 feet from wild horses and never feed or touch them.

Shad Landing & Milburn Landing Parks & Nature

Pocomoke River State Park

The park’s two areas provide different ways to experience the river and its wooded surroundings. Shad Landing and Milburn Landing are separate destinations on opposite sides of the river, not interchangeable entrances.

Before You Go Choose the correct park area before driving. Check seasonal facilities, camping arrangements and current park alerts rather than using a generic park address.

Before You Go Check seasonal bicycle rules and event exceptions before riding. Walking access and beach activities are separate from admission to individual attractions, and parking arrangements vary by location.
