Manassas Park Local Guide
Get to Know Manassas Park
Manassas Park is an independent Virginia city, separate from Prince William County and the City of Manassas. Use this guide to find the city offices, regional programs and address specific service providers responsible for your home.

Manassas Park’s modern residential development began with a Prince William County subdivision in 1955. It became a town in 1957 and an independent city in 1975. The city’s Overview and History (opens in a new tab) traces that growth and the development of its own public services.
Historic Signal Hill connects the area to Civil War communications. On July 21, 1861, Confederate signal officer Edward Porter Alexander spotted a Union flanking movement and relayed a warning by semaphore during the First Battle of Manassas. The Virginia Department of Historic Resources’ Signal Hill entry (opens in a new tab) explains the site’s role.
